When Shelby Shines On first reached out, it was not an established nonprofit with years of procedures, programs, and history.
It was a family’s determination that Shelby’s light would continue to shine.
They needed a legitimate online presence to support their 501(c)(3) application, but more importantly, they needed a place where a new organization could begin to take shape.
They knew exactly what they wanted to accomplish.
They wanted to honor Shelby’s life by creating an organization that would carry her light into the community for years to come.
The destination was never the question.
The challenge was designing the path that would take them there.
That’s where CWS Consulting came alongside them.
Together, we built a digital home that could grow alongside the mission—one capable of supporting not only what Shelby Shines On was on day one, but what it would become in the years ahead.
Honoring Shelby’s Light
Before we built systems, forms, registrations, or fundraising events, we established one guiding principle:

Every visitor should leave knowing who Shelby was.
This was not simply a nonprofit website. It was a living tribute.
Throughout the site, Shelby’s smile, her joy, and the little details that made her unmistakably Shelby are woven into the design. The sparkle of a disco ball. Leopard-print bows.

Photographs that capture her infectious laugh. Small touches that quietly remind visitors that every scholarship awarded, every event held, and every dollar raised exists because one remarkable young woman continues to inspire an entire community.
Even the foundation’s signature events reflect Shelby herself.
The golf tournament
The car show
The Christmas gala
None of them were chosen at random.
Each one celebrates something Shelby genuinely loved, allowing the foundation to honor her life in ways that feel deeply personal instead of simply symbolic.
When we refreshed the website’s design, Tiffany shared words I’ll never forget:

“After I stopped squalling, I read it again... and I absolutely love it.”
There may not be a higher compliment than knowing the website helped a mother feel that her daughter’s story had been honored well.
Growing Alongside the Mission
As the foundation discovered new ways to serve the community, the website simply grew with it.
Every new event, every new program, and every new opportunity became another natural part of the same system rather than something separate that had to be managed somewhere else.
Today, the website serves as the organization’s digital home, bringing everything together in one trusted place.

Supporters can:
Register for fundraising events
Purchase gala tickets
Become sponsors
Apply as vendors
Volunteer at upcoming events
Apply for scholarships
Request grant assistance as that program develops
Read stories from past events
Join the mailing list
Stay connected throughout the year
Social media creates excitement and keeps the community engaged.
The website gives that excitement a permanent home.
Every Facebook post, every Instagram update, every sponsor announcement, and every event invitation points people back to one place:
What We Built
Rather than creating individual pages, we built a flexible system that allows the foundation to keep growing without starting over.
As the mission evolved, the website evolved right alongside it.
Today it includes:

Event registration and online payments
Golf tournament management
Annual gala ticketing
Car show registration
Corporate sponsor recognition
Vendor applications managed through CMS
Volunteer registration
Scholarship application workflows
Grant application infrastructure
Blog archives preserving the foundation’s story
CRM contact segmentation for supporters, volunteers, sponsors, and future communications
Every addition works together as part of one cohesive system.
As new opportunities emerge, the website is ready to support them.
Power Conversion
Create one trusted destination where every path leads back to the mission.

The website became the foundation’s permanent address.
Not just on the internet—but within the community itself.
Whether someone hears about Shelby Shines On through Facebook, a golf tournament, a sponsor, a friend, or a community event, they know exactly where to go next.
The website does not replace social media.
It gives every conversation somewhere to land.
The Results

Today, Shelby Shines On operates from a digital foundation designed to grow alongside the organization.
Supporters know exactly where to find information.
Sponsors have a professional organization they can confidently invest in.
Volunteers have a clear path to get involved.
Families can complete scholarship applications online.
Board members spend less time juggling logistics and more time focusing on the mission.
Most importantly, the website has become the stable home that allows the foundation to continue honoring Shelby’s life while expanding its impact throughout the community.

More Than a Website
One of my favorite parts of this project is that there was no existing blueprint to follow.
The organization and the website grew together.
Sometimes clients come with an established business and ask for a better website.
Other times, they come with a vision, a calling, or simply the hope that something meaningful can exist.
Good consulting does not begin by asking, “What pages do you need?”
It begins by asking, “What are you trying to accomplish?”
Once we understand where the weight is, we can begin building systems that help carry it.
Could This Story Be Yours?
You do not have to have every answer before you begin.
Whether you are launching a nonprofit, starting a new business, or growing an organization that is still taking shape, your website can become far more than an online brochure.
It can become the place your community learns to trust. The place supporters know to return to. The place your mission has room to grow.
