The Challenge
Ferst Readers of Henry County is part of a national literacy organization, but its local chapter needed a stronger digital presence of its own.
The original website had been generously built by a volunteer and served the organization well. As the chapter grew, however, the need for timely updates and ongoing support eventually outpaced what a volunteer could reasonably provide.
At the same time, the national organization had refreshed its branding, leaving the local website looking disconnected from the larger Ferst Readers identity. Working within a budget made possible by a generous donor, the goal was to create a local website that felt unmistakably connected to the national mission while still serving Henry County directly.
What We Changed

We updated the site to align with the national Ferst Readers branding, clarified the local chapter’s story, and created a smoother handoff between local relationships and national systems.
One of the biggest improvements happened behind the scenes.
Previously, parent registrations were printed, mailed to the national office, and then manually entered into its database.
We recreated the national registration fields inside a custom Wix form so each submission could be exported as a CSV with columns that closely match the national database. Now the director can download the registrations and email the file to the national office for import instead of printing, stamping, and mailing forms.
The local chapter also gained a dependable place to share fundraising events, publish updates, send newsletters, and stay connected with supporters and the families it serves.
Power Conversion
Remove unnecessary work so the organization can spend more time serving families.

Parents can register online. The director has timely access to local registration data. Community supporters have one dependable place to find events and updates.
Instead of waiting months for information to make its way back from the national office, the local chapter can now speak with donors, sponsors, and community partners using current information about the families it is serving.
Confidence—with Support When Needed

A website should not become another mystery that only the web designer understands.
As part of the project, I trained the local director to handle the day-to-day tasks that keep the organization moving—exporting registration reports, updating basic text, publishing blog posts, and sending email newsletters.
That means routine updates do not have to wait for a volunteer or require a new invoice every time. And when the organization wants to add a new feature, launch a new initiative, or tackle something more complex, it knows it has a trusted technology partner available on a case-by-case basis. The goal is not dependence. It is confidence—with support when needed.
“The website that you have completely rebuilt for Ferst Readers of Henry County is warm and welcoming, and something of which we can truly be proud.” — Doris Griffin, Chair, Ferst Readers of Henry County
The Results

Today, Ferst Readers of Henry County has a website that looks connected to the national organization, serves its local community, and works within the realities of a nonprofit budget.
Registrations move more efficiently. Communication is more direct. The director has access to current local information. And the chapter can confidently manage the everyday work while knowing help is available for the bigger things.
Could Your Organization Use a Better Bridge?
Whether you are working within a national organization, relying on volunteers, or trying to make the most of a limited budget, your website should make your work easier—not harder.
